Zippy was found as a neglected, underweight stray and ended up on the kill list at an L.A.
county shelter.
He has gone from being a defeated, fear-biter to a cuddly, giver/receiver of endless kisses with his people whom he trusts and feels safe with.
Zippy is in foster with multiple people, dogs and a dog-friendly cat (with whom he gets along very well) but he is far more interested in his people than dogs and is happiest when on a human lap.
Zippy is a very smart, youthful, approx.
10 yr senior who loves walks, playing with his toys, exploring for new smells, and going for car rides - when not cuddling with his favorite person(s).
He is a very fast runner, and a friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people but is extremely protective so caution must be exercised when encountering new dogs.
Zippy bonds quickly with people who are loving with him and will become their velcro boy.
His ideal home is one where he is the only dog (or lives with a compatible cat), has a private outdoor space with easy access for potty breaks throughout the day/evening, where his person(s) is home most of the time or where he can accompany his mom/dad everywhere.
If there is another dog in the home, it must be female and there must be multiple people to reduce competition for affection.
If he’s the only dog, he can live with one person.
At just under 8 lbs, he is very mobile.
Teenage kids in the home would be fine.
Note that, while Zippy is house trained, if he feels competition from another male dog he will mark indoors and need to wear a belly band.
We are currently set up to adopt within the Los Angeles area.
