Meet Zorro
Zorro is trying very hard to be a good dog. He was picked up as a stray and judging by his overexcited behavior, he was probably kenneled or chained up his whole life. When he came to the rescue, he knew very little about being around people and other dogs (never aggressive, just VERY hyper). We have worked with him quite a bit teaching him proper behavior, and he is responding well. He loves positive reinforcement and treats. Zorro would do well in a home with another dog, preferably female, and of his activity level (medium high energy). He is learning to be a very sweet boy, eager to please his people. Zorro is ready to be adopted by an active family who has room for him to run and play, and time to continue his training. Intake date: 3/24/23 From: Selah ACO Microchip: none Dog’s name: Zorro Breed: husky/shepherd Age: 2-3 Gender: Neutered: YES Size: Large Height: 23 in Weight: 68 lbs Coat: Medium Description: black with white on chest Nose: Clear Eyes: Clear Ears: Clean Missing fur: No Exposure to dogs: 2 adult females, several adult males Introductions to dogs: very excited/hyper, overstimulated, very 'in your face' . I kept him on the leash for a while when he was meeting my girls. They did fine with him. I recommend keeping him on leash in close proximity to new dogs until he settles down. While meeting the males, Zorro was non-aggressive, but his excitement was too much for the male dogs and they took it as aggression, so lots of growling started. After keeping on leash for a while, we were able to transition to off leash and he became very playful with the males. He wants to be friends with every dog, but needs more practice with the introductions. Interactions with Dogs: wrestle, playful, seeks attention from other dogs, learning spatial boundaries, cuddles on couch, runs/plays ball Exposure to cats: 2 adult female cats Interactions with Cats: curious, non aggressive, sniffing, tail wagging, I always recommend on leash, slow introductions to cats so behavior can be corrected right away. Exposure to children: 6 yrs and older Recommendation for children: I think he would be fine around children ages 4 and up just because sometimes his excitement gets the better of him, but he has been nothing but friendly to all the children he has met.
